Indian Army on Tuesday killed two terrorists in a gunfight in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The forces are still looking for the third terrorist, who escaped. The operation has concluded.
"Two terrorists were killed and their bodies recovered. We are looking for the third terrorist who escaped just as cordon was being laid. Operation has concluded now, withdrawal of troops is in progress," IGP Muneer Khan told news agency ANI.
An army jawan has been injured in the operation.
Earlier on Monday, it was reported that two-three terrorists were trapped in Batmurran village of Keller tehsil of Shopian, following which the security forces comprise of soldiers of 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir Police Special Operations Group and 14 battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation.
The official said that the search operation turned into an encounter as militants opened firing towards the security forces.
