New Delhi: Zoro, a Siberian Husky which was allegedly kidnapped by four men in an Innova car in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area last week, was found tied to a pole in the same park today.

It is suspected that the gang of cattle thieves which had abducted the dog left it there fearing arrest, police said.

"The neighbours who go out for morning walk on regular basis spotted Zoro (the dog) tied to a pole in the park around 5 AM. We rushed to the spot and, yes, it was him," Aftab Khan, the owner of the dog said.

Police had registered a case in connection with the matter. They were informed about the dog today, following which a team was sent to Khan's house.

"Efforts are on to track down the gang which had forcibly taken away the dog," a senior police official said.

On Friday, while Zoro and Khan were out for morning walk, the dog started following a gang of cattle thieves, suspectedly looking out for pigs in a forested area nearby.

Zoro saw pigs in their van too and started barking, following which the gang of around 4-5 men forcibly put the Siberian Husky into their Toyota Innova van and sped away, while Khan looked on.

Earlier, Khan chased the van for a while but failed to note down its registration number, he told the police in his complaint.

A case of theft has been registered at Vasant Kunj (south) police station. Meanwhile, a CCTV camera installed near the crime spot was found to be dysfunctional.

About 72 hours later, the police have not been able to trace the dog or nab his kidnappers.

Describing the incident, the owner, Aftab Khan, said, “At 6.30 am on Saturday, my dog and I were out for a walk when we spotted four men standing outside a golden-coloured Innova and trying to push a pig inside the vehicle. Seeing us, they got into the vehicle and sped away. However, Zorro ran behind the vehicle. The men stopped, picked up my dog and sped away.”

Zorro, a male Siberian Husky, was procured by Khan last year. "Zorro is a favourite among family members and we shall make all efforts to track him," he said.

Khan and his family also uploaded a video on you tube for people to identify the missing dog in which it can be seen getting a haircut. The family is planning to stick missing posters to help track Zorro at the earliest, he said.
