New Delhi: The one year old Siberian Husky was ‘kidnapped’ almost a week ago by four cattle thieves while he was out for a walk with his owner at a park in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area.

On Thursday, he was found tied to an electric pole in the same park.

It is suspected that the gang of cattle thieves which had abducted the dog left it there fearing arrest, police said.

The police believe the abductors succumbed to pressure created by investigators and media coverage of the incident.

Zorro was spotted around 5am by the colony’s security guard, Sunil. Aware of Zorro’s abduction, Sunil immediately informed the dog’s owner, Aftab Khan.

“Having frequently encountered him during his morning walks, Sunil immediately identified him and informed us,” told Khan’s son Asif to media.

Police had registered a case in connection with the matter. They were informed about the dog today, following which a team was sent to Khan's house.

After his return, the dog’s owner, Aftab Khan was overjoyed.

“As we all were eagerly waiting to see Zorro back, my family members and I rushed to the spot. My daughter, Alisha, ran towards Zorro and hugged him tightly. Everyone in my family is celebrating Zorro’s return. We thank the local police and the media for their cooperation,” khan told media.

According to police, the incident took place on June 3, when one-year-old Zorro was out for walk with its owner Aftab Khan, it tried to prevent a gang of cattle thieves from stealing pigs in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj Enclave.

The dog started barking at unidentified persons and started following the car.The thieves then picked up the dog and fled in a golden coloured Innova as its owner looked on.

“We are extremely happy to get the dog back. The police and the media helped us in getting it back. We are upset with the fact that his hair was shaved off,” owner Aftab Khan said.

He said that Zorro is not in good health now but is being taken care of.
