I may be assassinated like Indira Gandhi, claims Kejriwal

"All the police personnel who are around me report to the BJP government. My PSO also reports to the BJP. Maybe using my PSO itself -in a similar fashion to Indira Gandhi's assassination, BJP might assassinate me. My life can be ended within two minutes,"Arvind Kejriwal said.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday claimed that his life can be ended within minutes by his own security as they report to the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government.

He said that that his enemies are hatching a conspiracy to assassinate him the way former prime minister Indira Gandi was killed by her own bodyguards in 1984.

“After becoming the CM he has been attacked at least 6 times in presence of police. Even after such incidents no action was taken. We don't trust the Delhi Police,” AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj told News Agency ANI.

The Congress and the JD(S) voiced their support to Kejriwal’s claim and said there is no reason not to believe him.

However, the ruling BJP at the Centre rejected the allegations levelled by the Delhi chief minister on the grounds that he isn’t that important person.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police have issued a statement on the alleagtion and said, "the security unit of Delhi Police is a professional set up of well trained personnel who are thoroughly committed to their job and performed duties with a high level of dedication and professionalism."

"The unit has been providing security cover commendably for several high dignitaries of all political parties . The security personnel posted in the security team of honourable CM, Delhi are equally well committed to their duties," the statement added.

Hours after his claim, Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju said that Kejriwal has "crossed all the limits of political insanity and human impulsivity."

"Arvind Kejriwal ji has crossed all the limits of political insanity and human impulsivity. How can a Chief Minister make such reprehensible statement? We are political rivals not enemies! Security of the nation and it's citizens is the responsibility of the Govt," Rijiju tweeted.
