Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has expressed the hope that the condition in the Kashmir valley will soon become normal.

Accusing Pakistan of trying to create unrest in the valley, General Rawat said that Islamabad is using social media to foment trouble in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Pakistan is spreading disinformation among the youth of Kashmir with doctored videos and messages. This is further supported by some of the people in the valley who spread it and glamorize the young boys who have joined terrorist organisations," General Rawat told news agency ANI.

The Army Chief’s statement comes at a time when the situation remains volatile in Kashmir valley with Pakistan-backed protestors carrying out violent demonstrations against the armed forces.

According to government estimates, there are around 200 terrorists presently operating in the valley.

Though the valley has witnessed a significant reduction in the number of terrorists operating in the region, the unrest continues as terror groups like Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) made a  tactical shift in their strategy by starting vigorous use of social media.

The terror groups are now increasingly using social media networks like WhatsApp groups to coordinate with stone pelters. These groups are also being used to spread disinformation among stone pelters.

In fact, JuD has taken out advertisements asking youths to join its 'workshops' to wage a social media war in Kashmir.
