Kanpur City SP Surendra Kumar Das
Kanpur City Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar Das attempted suicide by cosuming a poisonous substance on Wednesday morning. He has been admitted to a local hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
While the actual reason behind Das taking such an extreme step is not known yet, sources said he was under mental stress due to some family issues.
An IPS of the 2014 batch, Surendra Kumar Das is a resident of Lucknow and was posted as SP Nagar in Kanpur.
In May this year, additional SP of UP ATS, Rajesh Sahni, was found dead with a gun wound inside his office in Lucknow's Gomtinagar. Sahni was posted as additional SP, ATS, since July 2014.
