Actor-turned politician and founder of the newly launched party Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Haasan on Wednesday met Congress Party chief Rahul Gandhi at the latter's residence in New Delhi. Kamal said that it was a 'formal courtesy meeting'. The two leaders also spoke about about the current political situation in Taml Nadu that has worsened following the death of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
"Enjoyed meeting @ikamalhaasan in Delhi today. We discussed a wide range of issues concerning our two parties, including the political situation in Tamil Nadu," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
Earlier in the day, Kamal Haasan met Election Commission officials and expressed confidence that the process of registration of his political party will be done in around a week's time.
Asked when the process of the registration would be over, Kamal said: "It will come to a logical conclusion very soon. They (officials) said they would decide in a week or 10 days."
He said he had not asked for an election symbol as that would be decided later.
