New Delhi: K G Suresh, a journalist, was on Wednesday appointed as the new Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication for a period of three years.
The name of Suresh, who is at now senior consulting editor with Doordashan news, was cleared by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet.
47-year-old Suresh will have a tenure of three years from the date of assumption of his charge, an official notification said.
Suresh, who has worked with the PTI, was a freelance journalist who had contributed columns to newspapers before his assignment with the Doordarshan.
He has also worked as Senior Fellow with Vivekananda International Foundation, a New Delhi-based think tank, as an editor for website and in-house publications.
Former IIMC DG Sunit Tandon completed his tenure in November 2015 after which the post fell vacant.
