New Delhi: During the interrogation of arrested Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) operatives, it has been revealed that the group was planning Pathankot-like strike at the Hindon IAF base and a mall on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border.
Sources said that Sajid Ahmad, the leader of the module, was an aspiring dancer and had auditioned for reality TV shows as a choreographer.
When Sajid was preparing for auditions, he met an imam who stopped the music and castigated the young man for wasting his life. The religious teacher scolded Sajid saying music and dance will land him in dojakh (hell).
After few encounters with the maulana, Sajid gave up dance and started browsing some websites, as directed by the imam, to find some help. He then started visiting cyber cafes more frequently. One day, the youth logged on to a site named rangonoor.com and came in touch with few JeM militants. He even tried to meet JeM chief Masood Azhar but failed.
Sajid also dropped his contact number in the comment box of the web portal. Later, he managed to join the module's WhatsApp group which had nearly 50 members.
While Sajid was picked up from north-east Delhi's Chand Bagh near Gokulpuri, two others Shakir and Samir were held from Deoband and Ghaziabad's Loni, respectively.
Police said that Sajid wanted to visit Pakistan but since he failed to obtain passport, he couldn’t manage to flee.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened at the Hindon IAF base and other bases in the country.
