An Indian Army soldier was martyred today in a ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. Defence Ministry sources said that the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire in Mankote area of the LoC in Poonch district.

"A soldier -- identified as Sepoy Pawan Kumar -- was killed in the firing by the Pakistan Army," the sources said. Indian positions have also retaliated to unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Pakistan army in the area.

Yesterday, an Army jawan was injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the LoC in the Uri sector. Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing towards an Indian post in the Uri sector, resulting in injuries to a jawan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Office today summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad over alleged ‘ceasefire violations’ by Indian troops along the LoC.

Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Dr Mohammad Faisal summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces, the FO said in a statement.

The FO office claimed that a 35-year-old woman was killed in the Karela sector and another woman was injured in Khuiratta Sector in alleged firing by Indian forces yesterday.

The Director General urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement, investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations, and instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace along the LoC.
