At least three terrorists were gunned down on Monday morning in an encounter between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara district. A female civilian was also reportedly killed in the cross-firing.
The encounter, which broke out in Handwara’s Unisoo on Sunday night, concluded with the killing of three militants who are believed to be Pakistanis, belonging to the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid tweeted that a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir police, RR and CRPF carried out the operation. “It has been raining whole night & boys were out there in the cold,” he tweeted.
A massive search and cordon operation was carried out by the security forces after they received inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
More details are awaited.
