Four militants of the LeT gunned down during an encounter in Pulwama

One policeman and three army personnel were injured during an encounter with terrorists in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir early Monday. The security forces also eliminated four militants that belonged to the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Speaking on the gunfight, Jammu and Kashmir Police said, "Three army personnel and one policeman sustained injuries. They have been hospitalized and in a stable condition. It was a clean operation, no collateral damage happened during the encounter. Arms and ammunition recovered from site of encounter. Case registered."

2 AK rifles, 1 SLR and 1 pistol was recovered from the slain terrorists, whose identities were yet to be ascertained.

The exchange of fire broke out in Lassipora area of the district. A search operation was launched in the area upon receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.

The search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon the security forces, a police official said.

"Four terrorists have been eliminated in Pulwama operation," Srinagar-based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said. He said weapons and war-like stores have been recovered from the site of the encounter.
