A high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was held here on Saturday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of terror attack on Sunjuwan Army camp.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command, Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu, apprised the Chief Minister on the attack and the operation to flush out militants from there.

The Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home), the Director General of Police, state intelligence chief and other top officials attended the meeting.

Two soldiers, including a JCO, were killed and and nine others, including women and children, injured when a group of heavily-armed Jaish-e-Mohammed militants dressed in Army fatigues stormed a military camp in a pre-dawn attack on Saturday.

Two terrorists have been killed so far, while the others are still holed up.

An official statement said here that Mufti took stock of the situation arising out of the terror attack.

"Condemning the attack, the Chief Minister said it was an effort by elements inimical to peace to break the pace of development in the State, thereby putting the masses to immense trouble.

She appealed to all sections of society to stand together in such sensitive times and defeat the designs of terrorists who want to divide people, besides creating chaos in society and the State.

"Mehbooba Mufti paid rich tributes to the slain Army personnel, praised their valour and sympathised with the bereaved families. She also wished the injured soldiers a speedy recovery."

She also reviewed the overall security situation in the state and along the borders.

"Asking security agencies to maintain close coordination, the Chief Minister directed police and other security agencies to maintain vigil and ensure that no subversive element is allowed to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

"She also directed for strict vigil at vital installations like airports, bus stations and other crowded places."
