Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
However, there was no immediate official confirmation on the killings.
Meanwhile, intense clashes erupted near the site of the gunfight.
The security forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving a tip-off about the presence of militants in the Katpora area of Yaripora in the south Kashmir district.
A police official told PTI that the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired upon the forces.
The gunfight was on when the last reports came in, the official said, adding further details are awaited.
