Another Indian Army soldier sacrificed his life today after the Army foiled an infiltration bid in Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said.
It was barely hours after a separate clash in which the Army gunned down at least 10 terrorists in the Uri sector that the security forces in the Naugam area near the LoC challenged a group of heavily armed militants.
"When challenged, the group of heavily armed militants fired at the security forces, triggering an encounter in which one army soldier was critically injured. The encounter is still going on in the area. There are five to six militants engaged in the encounter by the security forces in Naugam area," a police source said.
The latest infiltration bid comes as New Delhi and Islamabad are locked in a bitter diplomatic war of words following the Uri terror attack, which India has blamed on militants from Pakistan.
On Sunday, Pakistani terrorists attacked an Indian Army camp at Uri along the Line of Control which left 18 soldiers dead and over 3 injured.
All four attackers were killed and identified by the Army as being part of the Jaish-e-Muhammed.
