Pulwama: 16 students injured in explosion inside classroom in south Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir Police officials said that explosion took place at 02:30 pm inside the classroom at private school - Falah-e-Millat.

Jammu and Kashmir: Explosion in a school in Pulwama, 10 students reported injured

An explosion has been reported in a school in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. According to reports, at least 16 students of the class10 have been injured in the blast inside a private school in Narbal area of Kakpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police officials said that explosion took place at 02:30 pm inside the classroom ata private school - Falah-e-Millat. 

Total 16 students were injured in the explosion at the private school, their condition is stable. FIR registered, the investigation was in progress, Chandan Kohli, SSP Pulwama told news agency ANI today. 

"I was teaching and then suddenly an explosion occurred. I can't say how many students are injured," school teacher Jawed Ahmed told news agency ANI.

According to a media report, the blast took place after one of the students brought an explosive to the school. It was picked up by the student from the Ratnipora encounter site, which is adjacent to the school, it said.

An encounter between security forces and militants in the area on Tuesday had resulted in the death of militant Hilal Ahmad Rather, affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen. Rather was wanted for killing two policemen at Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in February last year. A soldier was also martyred in Tuesday's encounter.
