Two terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district early Friday. The gunfight was reported from Dragad Sugan area of the district.
Security forces had received specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area after which they had surrounded an orchard area of Dragad-Sugan village, police sources said.
The operation is underway.
"As the security forces came closer, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering an encounter which is underway," police sources said.
"Additional forces have been rushed to the area to ensure to flush out the militants from the orchard area, they said.

Earlier on May 18, three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The area has been cordoned off after the exchange of fire took place.
Security forces had received information about the presence of militants in Panzgam village of Awantipora, following which the gunfight between terrorists and troops of 130 Battalion CRPF, 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG) broke out.
Bodies of the terrorists were found during a search operation post the encounter.
