Encounter breaks out in Tral
An encounter between terrorists and security forces broke out in Tral area of South Kashmir early on Sunday. Information about presence of militants in the area was received by the joint forces at Mindura Dazikot, Tral, following which the gunfight began.
Two to three militants were believed to be trapped in the area.
According to reports, the gunfight has stopped and a search operation in the area has been launched by the security forces with Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.
The area has been cordoned off.
"As the security forces tightened the cordon, the militants started firing which triggered the ongoing gunfight," police said.
