One jawan was martyred and two terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam early Tuesday. Two to three militants were reported to be trapped during the gunfight, which broke out in Redwani area.
One terrorist was killed in another gunfight, which broke out between terrorists and security forces in Hafoo area of Tral in Pulwama on Tuesday. The area has been cordoned off.
According to Jammu and Kashmir police, incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from site of encounter. Police have registered a case and have initiated investigation in the matter.
Following specific inputs about presence of militants, security forces surrounded Redwani village in Kulgam, while a cordon and search operation was on in Hafoo village in Tral area of Pulwama.
The security forces had gunned down six terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen during an encounter in Shopian district on Sunday. A civilian was also killed in the gunfight.

The search and cordon operations were launched after receiving credible information regarding the presence of terrorists in Batagund areas of Kapran, police officials had said.
Earlier on Friday, six terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Sekipora area of Bijbehara in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Arms and ammunition were also recovered following the gunfight.
