Pakistan on Wednesday night violated the ceasefire in Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district which led to the killing of a 35-year-old woman.
Two other persons, including the husband of the victim, were injured in the firing from the Pakistani side.
The firing from the Pakistani side began at 11.20pm on Wednesday night.
According to reports, a shell hit a village in Laam belt of Nowshera sector which killed Akhtar Bi and wounded her husband Mohmmad Hanief.
The Indian Army responded by launching heavy shelling targeting Pakistani side.
Firing from the two sides is still going on.
Meanwhile, the Rajouri administration has ordered the closure of schools located near the Line of Control (LoC). The residents of villages adjacent to the LoC have also been rushed to the campuses set up in schools.
