Two persons were killed and 26 others injured on Thursday when a minibus plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, a police official said.
The bus, en route to Doda from Halaran, fell into a 200-feet deep gorge near Kahara on Gandoh-Thathri road.
"Two persons died and 26 others were injured when a mini bus on way from Halaran village to Kara Gandoh in Doda district went out of the driver's control and plunged into a deep gorge," police said.
"After getting information about the accident, police immediately rushed to the spot and rescued people from the ill-fated vehicle. They were taken to Trauma Hospital Thathri," SDM Mohd Anwar Banday said.
"Some critically injured people were later shifted to district hospital for further treatment," he said. One of the deceased was identified as Kulsuma Begum, a resident of Gandoh, he added.
A rescue operation is underway to shift the injured to hospital.
