Interpol has issued a red corner notice (RCN) against Purvi Modi, the sister of Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam accused Nirav Modi, on Monday.
Purvi Modi (44) is a Belgian national.
The notice acts as an international arrest warrant. It states that she is required on charges of "money laundering".
The RCN against her was requested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), officials said. The ED wants her to join investigations to take its investigation in the case forward, they added, reported news agency PTI.
After a notice is issued against a fugitive, Interpol asks its member countries (192) to arrest or detain the person if spotted in their countries.
Arrest or detention is followed by extradition or deportation.
Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are absconding since the first week of January.
The case relates to cheating the state-run PNB through the fraudulent issuance of Letters of Undertaking and Foreign Letters of Credit worth approx. Rs 13,000 crore by Modi.
