Srinagar: After the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, a soldier was killed by militants, an Army official said today.
"Terrorists attempting to infiltrate (from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) were intercepted by alert troops in the intervening night of July 22-23 which led to exchange of fire and forced the infiltrators to flee,” the official said, adding, “In the gunbattle, one soldier sustained injuries and unfortunately later succumbed."
Soon after the encounter of the soldier, a search operation was launched, he said.
