Congress leader Manish Tewari on Saturday attacked Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala for allegedly 'killing democracy' in Karnataka and sought his resignation. The sharp attack came moments after Karnataka Chief Minister-for-two-days BS Yeddyurappa resigned after failing to gather numbers for a trust vote.
Speaking on the dais of India TV Samvaad on four years of Modi Government, Tewari said, "BS Yeddyurappa has already resigned, now the Governor of Karnataka should also resign as he killed the democracy."
In retaliation, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that the alliance between Congress and Janata Dal-Secular was against the democratic values as it was done within 20 minutes of poll counting. "Congress and JD(S) entered into alliance within 20 minutes while the Karnataka vote counting was still on and this is not how a democracy works," he said.
