New Delhi: The results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), conducted for admissions to to India’s premier engineering institutions, was declared on Sunday.
Aman Bansal of Jaipur has topped the exams while Bhavesh Dhingra of Yamuna Nagar and Kunal Goyal, also of Jaipur, have bagged the second and third position respectively in the test. Riya Singh from Kota is the topper among girls with an all-India ranking of 133.
Over 1,55,948 candidates had registered for the exam and 36,566 qualified, as per the official JEE website. Of these 31,996 are boys and 4,570 are girls.

The exam was organised by IIT Guwahati in collaboration with the Joint Admission Board 2016 across various centres throughout the country for admission to engineering courses in IIT. Several other engineering institutions also admit students based on the rank of JEE.
Apart from 23 IITs including the four new ones, admissions on the basis of this exam are granted to other institutes like Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram.
