Former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao today claimed that he was placed under house arrest and that he is still the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu.
“I was under house arrest. It is an unconstitutional assault on the office of Chief Secy” P Rama Mohana Rao told media persons.
Rao further claimed that he was still the Chief Secretary of the state as he was yet to be served with the transfer order.
“I was the Chief Secretary; I am the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. They have no guts to serve me with the copy of transfer order,” he said.
He also claimed that the Income Tax department did not find any incriminating documents from his house. Rao also claimed that his name was not there in the search warrant and that it had only his son’s name.
“They have found nothing. No incriminate documents found; No secret chamber, that is the store room,” he said.
“CRPF entered my house; they showed me the search warrant, my name was not there. The search warrant had name of my son. They've found nothing. No incriminate documents found; No secret chamber that is the store room,” he added.
He also alleged that the CRPF entered his house at gun point and claimed that his life was in danger.
"At gun point, CRPF entered my house,they entered my son's house at gun point.Why did they do? I may be a big hurdle for many," he said.
"I am being targeted; I have fear, my life is in danger," he added.
P Rama Mohana Rao also wondered whether such raid would have taken place, had the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa been alive.
"If madam had been alive, would this happen to Tamil Nadu? What about people's security?" he asked.
He also claimed that the I-T department found only Rs 1,12,320 and gold belonging to his wife and daughter from his house.
"They found Rs 1,12,320 in my house, gold that belongs to my wife and daughter and silver articles and ornaments of God around 20-25 kg," he said.
The former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary thanked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for coming out in his support.
“I want to thank West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi for supporting my cause,” Rao said.
Reacting to P Rama Mohana Rao's charges, Union Minister of State for Finance Arjun Meghwal said thateveryone is equal before the law.
"Everyone is equal before law, whosoever does wrong will be punished, " Arjun Meghwal said.
