New Delhi: Heavy rain and thundershower today lashed the National Capital Region bringing much needed respite from the scorching heat.
Delhi and the entire National Capital Region have been reeling under dry weather conditions for quite some time now. The minimum temperature today was recorded at 28.4 Degrees Celsius whereas maximum temperature hovered around 40 Degrees Celsius.
According to Skymet Weather, this rainfall activity is likely to intensify as the weekend approaches.
“The intensity of these rains will be light until Friday but by Saturday and Sunday these showers are likely to grow stronger. Light to moderate rain and thundershower activity along with dust storm can be expected over the weekend,” Skymet Weather said.
The reason for this weather activity is the presence of a cyclonic circulation over Punjab and Haryana and a trough from this system extending up to West Bengal, hovering over Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Skymet Weather added.
This was the first shower for the month of June.
On Thursday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.1 Degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 30.4 Degrees Celsius.
