Social activist Anna Hazare is set to launch a peaceful protest against alleged atrocities on farmers in India.
The Gandhian activist on Sunday blamed the Centre for farmers’ suicides and urged everyone to join him in his protest.
Addressing ‘Rashtriya Kisan Mahapanchayat’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, Hazare said, “Today the farmer of this country is in a poor shape. The Centre is responsible for the suicides committed by the farmer. It is yet to implement the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission. I have written a number of letters to the Centre, but nothing happened”.
Later, the activist told ANI that he has already started his campaign by touring states. “We will start a peaceful protest from March 23 next year in Delhi, I have toured 9 states till now and urged everyone to join me, it is for the sake of our farmers, they are in pitiable condition,” Hazare said.
