Social activist and former AAP leader Anjali Damania has claimed to receive a threat call from Pakistan at 12.30 am last night. The person, she said, threatened her not to take up the case against BJP leader Eknath Khadse.

The development comes in the backdrop of her demand for an intervention by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the arrest of minister Eknath Khadse for making alleged obscene remarks against her.

According to Damania, she received the call at 33 past midnight. The person asked her to withdraw case against Khadse. She said that that number from which the call was made is +922135871719 and Truecaller showed Dawood 2 Pakistan.

Damania said that she strongly believes it was gangster Dawood Ibrahim who called her. The person told her: “Anjali tune jo case kiya hai Khadse par wo wapas le, ni to mein tera jeena haram kar duga. Tu family wali hai. (Anjali you withdraw all cases against Khadse otherwise I will make your life miserable. You have a family).”

Damania informed that she has also written to the state women's commission seeking action against Khadse.

Meanwhile, Khadse has denied having made any remarks against Damania. The minister said that he never made any obscene remarks against her.

The Bombay High Court had recently asked the Maharashtra government to inform it in the next three weeks what steps it has taken in the last 10 months against Khadse, against whom corruption allegations were levelled by Damania. Damania and others had filed a public interest litigation (PIL), alleging that Khadse had amassed huge wealth. The property owned by Khadse and his relatives was thoroughly disproportionate to the known sources of income, the PIL had said.
