Goa CM Manohar Parrikar is fine, says BJP

Ruling out any change in leadership in Goa, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, admitted to the New Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), is fine. Three senior members of the party had on Sunday arrived in Goa to take stock of the political situation in the coastal state in view of Parrikar's indisposition.

The three-member team, including BL Santhosh, Ram Lal and Vinay Puranik, on a two-day visit to Goa, also met BJP's allies in the state.

"Whatever was discussed today will be briefed to you tomorrow. There is no issue about the government and there is no demand of change in leadership from anyone," Ram Lal told reporters after a series of meetings with state BJP leaders and MLAs.

Refusing to divulge any further information about the meetings, Goa BJP president Vinay Tendulkar said Parrikar is "fine" and that there is no question of leadership change in the state.

"During the meetings with central observers today we discussed organisational issues. There is no issue of leadership," Ram Lal said.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is undergoing treatment reportedly for a pancreatic ailment at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

All the three MLAs of the GFP and the Independent legislators held a meet with BJP observers on Sunday after the alliance partners had earlier demanded the central observers of the BJP for a permanent solution to the situation arising out of Parrikar's illness and his absence from day-to-day administrative work.

There is no need to change the leader, Tendulkar said when pointed out that GFP had asked for a “permanent solution” to the situation.

"The chief minister is in good health and there is no need to change the leadership. The core committee (of the Goa BJP) will meet tomorrow," he said.
