In a disgraceful incident shedding light on the increasing religious intolerance in India, the members of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Gandhinagar have initiated a disgusting campaign of sprinkling cow urine on visitors at ‘garba’ dance venues in order to keep Muslims out of the events.
According to a report in The Times of India, the Hindus are bearing the brunt of the ridiculous act as they arrive at the venues only to get sprayed with cow urine.
Upset with the campaign, Devduttsinh Raol, an IT professional based in Gandhinagar, has lodged a complaint with the police to put an end to this disgusting practice which is putting off garba revellers who are thronging venues dressed up in all their finery.
On Wednesday, Raol, along with his wife and brother-in-law, went to Thanganat ground to take part in Navratri festivities. But he was shocked when he found a group of men wearing saffron scarves showering cow urine on visitors and also applying ‘tilak’ on their foreheads.
Angered over the ill practice, Raol said that he doesn’t need a certificate of being a Hindu from any organisation.
He then lodged a complaint with the police in which he claimed that the group also misbehaved with his wife when he tried to intervene.
Shockingly, the police appeared reluctant to take action against the saffron outfits. But Raol didn’t hold back and approached Gandhinagar superintendent of police Virendra Singh Yadav, who took cognisance.
“All garba organisers have been asked to arrange for private security. We have assured them of quick police intervention if we are alerted on time,” THe Times of India quoted Virendra Singh Yadav as saying.
Still the police seems reluctant in taking action against the miscreants who can be easily identified from photographs published in local newspapers.
