Fuel price update: Diesel at Rs 74.35/l in Delhi, Rs 77.93/l in Mumbai

Earlier on Sunday, oil-marketing companies increased the prices of petrol and diesel across the four metro cities.

Fuel price in Delhi is again on a rise and on Wednesday diesel touched Rs 74.35 per litre (increased by Rs 0.24). In Mumbai, diesel price reached Rs 77.93 per litre (increased by Rs 0.25) .

Earlier on Sunday, oil-marketing companies increased the prices of petrol and diesel across the four metro cities.

Petrol was priced at Rs. 81.82 per litre in New Delhi, Rs. 83.66 per litre in Kolkata, Rs. 87.29 per litre in Mumbai and Rs. 85.04 per litre in Chennai, according to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

Diesel was sold at Rs. 73.53 per litre in New Delhi, Rs. 75.38 per litre in Kolkata, Rs. 77.06 per litre in Mumbai and Rs. 77.73 per litre in Chennai. Petrol and diesel rates are decided on a daily basis by oil-marketing companies on the basis of the rupee-dollar rate and global crude oil prices.

Delhi petrol pumps witness up to 70 per cent dip in footfall:

After Delhi government’s decision of not reducing petrol and diesel prices, reportedly, there is up to 70 percent dip in footfall in the petrol pumps in the national capital.

As per reports, people are getting the tank filled of their vehicles from bordering cities (of other states) where the price is comparatively less.  

Recently, the aam aadmi got some relief from sky-rocketing fuel prices as the Modi government announced Rs 2.50 per litre cut. The Centre cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 per litre and asked oil firms to absorb Re 1/litre of prices. Announcing the steps during a press conference in New Delhi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also appealed state governments to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel.
