A layer of thick fog has thrown normal life in Delhi-NCR out of gear today with the minimum temperature dipping to 8.2 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average.
The blanket of fog also brought down visibility levels which affected train and flight operations. A railway official informed that 69 trains were running late while four were cancelled due to heavy fog.
Brahmputra Mail and Vikramshila Express were running 26 hours late while Nandan Kanan Express was running 16 hours behind schedule, he said.
The official added that the Udyan Abha Toofan Express, Sampoorna Kranti Express, Taj Express and Kalka Mail were cancelled.
The Delhi International Airport Limited, which manages operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, however, said that flight operations were partially affected.
The road traffic has also been hit due to reduced visibility.
Visibility was recorded at 200 metres at 5.30 AM, which subsequently improved to 400 metres by 8.30 AM, a weather official said.
"The maximum temperature is likely to be around 19 degrees Celsius and partly cloudy conditions will prevail through the day," the official said.
Humidity was maximum at 100 per cent at 8.30 AM. Yesterday, the maximum temperature had plunged to 18.5 degrees, two notches below the normal, while the minimum was recorded at 10.5 degrees Celsius.
