New Delhi: At least 13 flights to the national capital were diverted and many were delayed today following bad weather.
A dust storm accompanied by light rains swept the national capital after days of oppressive heat.
An official at the Delhi airport said some flights were diverted and many others were delayed due to adverse weather conditions.
At least 13 flights to the airport were diverted, including two international ones, and many were delayed in the wake of bad weather. The diversions and delays mostly happened during the period between 1500 to 1900 hours, the official said.
Among others, a Saudia flight from Riyadh was diverted to Ahmedabad and an AirArabia flight from Sharjah was diverted to Jaipur.
The Delhi airport sees around 1,100 flight movements every day.
The Safdarjung observatory recorded 0.8 mm rainfall till 1730 hours while the areas under Lodhi Road, Ayanagar and Ridge observatories recorded showers measuring 0.8mm, 0.3mm and 1.4 mm respectively.
The weather station at Palam received traces of rainfall in the same period.
