New Delhi: A five-foot-long rat snake was recently rescued by two snake rescuers from the JNU campus after students spotted it outside the central library.
The snake was found to be in good health and after being rescued by a team of Wildlife SOS was realeased into its natural habitat
"We received information about a snake in the campus from a group of students who were on their way to the library. We then contacted SOS wildlife for help," said Harish Kumar, Security Officer.
Geeta Seshamani, Co-founder of Wildlife SOS, said, "Rat snakes are harmless to human beings and they mostly feed on rodents, lizards, birds and small mammals."
"Delhi still has a few patches of forest that are home to such unique wildlife and it is essential that we remain sensitive to the presence of wild animals in the national capital region," she added.
