At least four terrorists were killed and three jawans suffered injuries in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday.
The gunfight broke out in Nagidam area. A search operation is underway to find the bodies of the killed terrorists.
Meanwhile, Pakistan also violated ceasefire in Poonch area on Tuesday morning, targeting Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC).
The Pakistani Army violated ceasefire around 7 a.m. using small arms, automatics and mortar shells.
Reports from the area said at least two mortar shells fired by the Pakistani side landed close to the Indian Army's brigade headquarters in Poonch while the other landed in a village.
"Our positions retaliated strongly. Firing exchanges were going on till last reports came in," the sources added.
No report of any casualty or damage has been reported from the Indian side so far.
Earlier on Sunday too, two terrorists were gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Shopian. The security forces began a cordon and search operation at the strike of dawn on November 18 in Rebban area of Zainapora after receiving credible inputs about the presence of terrorists.
The hiding terrorists fired on the search party, following which security forces retaliated leading to an encounter.
Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the site of encounter. Police had registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter.
On November 13, three terrorists were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. While a Pakistani terrorist was shot dead by security forces in Akhnoor sector near International Border (IB) , two other terrorists were eliminated when they tried to infiltrate in Keren sector of Kupwara district.
