DUSU election 2018 results: ABVP on Thursday won three out of the four seats in Delhi University Student Union elections, while NSUI managed only one.

Posts of President, Vice President and Joint Secretary were bagged by ABVP, while NSUI won the Secretary post.

Earlier, NSUI had demanded fresh DUSU election. However, ABVP demanded that the counting of votes should be resumed.

Counting of votes for DUSU Election results 2018 was suspended on Thursday after six Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) had stopped working.

The DUSU polling was conducted on Wednesday with around 44.46 per cent voter turnout till 7.30 pm. Amid heavy security arrangements and police force, polling took place at 52 centres in the colleges, where as many as 1.35 lakh voters have been involved in deciding the fate of 23 candidates in the DUSU polls.

Senior faculty members were posted as observers at the centres and around 700 electronic voting machines (EVMs) had been installed, an official said.

According to sources, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won 71 seats in 19 colleges.

The ABVP won in various colleges, including Hindu College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Kirori Mal College, Bhagat Singh (Morning), Zakir Hussain (Morning), Dyal Singh (morning) colleges in Wednesday's poll.

Meanwhile, the National Students' Union Of India (NSUI) won 75 seats in 20 colleges.

The commencement of elections saw a delay of over an hour in Vivekananda College, due to lack of availability of data for students to vote for the treasurer's post, sources said.

Polling was conducted from 8:30 am to 1 pm in the morning colleges, while in the evening colleges, the polling was held between 3-7.30 pm.

The student wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had unsuccessfully contested the DUSU polls after the party came to power in Delhi in February 2015.

With these polls, it has promised the installation of CCTV cameras, setting up of police booths in the campus, ending the "culture of hooliganism" and opposition to "commercialisation of education".
