Hyderabad: A 33-year-old techie took the extreme step of ending his life by inhaling nitrogen gas at his house in S.R. Nagar area of Hyderabad yesterday, after a social networking application that he developed failed to take off.
Lucky Gupa Agarwal (33), who wanted a painless death, bought a small nitrogen cylinder and inhaled the gas by using a mask at his apartment at Ameerpet area here.
A police officer said the techie apparently searched the Internet for an easy method to end his life.
"I am committing suicide. Nitrogen gas is easy and painless method of suicide. I wish everyone peace and happiness," he wrote in a suicide note found in his room.
Lucky, a bachelor, had quit his job with a software firm a few months ago and was developing mobile applications on his own.
Police quoted his family members as saying that he used to confine himself to the room, working late into the night.
As Lucky did not come out of his room till Wednesday evening, Lucky's parents grew suspicious. As the door was locked from inside, they broke it open only to find him lying dead on his bed with a mask tied on his face.
He was reportedly depressed after a mobile application he developed had no takers in the market.
Police said he bought the nitrogen cylinder on March 17. Lucky's father Ashik Kumar Agarwal, a businessman, said they thought it was part of his project.
