Penalty worth Rs 9.6 lakh were imposed by the civic authorities in North Delhi on Saturday, over violations of dust pollution control norms, officials said. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) imposed as many as 52 challans on violators across its six zones for violations.
Karol Bagh Zone witnessed 20 challans, the maximum, followed by Civil Line Zone, at nine, the NDMC said.
A total of Rs 9.6 lakh was imposed for violations of dust pollution control norms, officials said.
Despite a slight dip, air pollution level in Delhi remained in the ‘very poor’ category’ on Saturday, due to control measures by authorities and stagnant meteorological conditions.
The officials however, warned of deterioration in air quality to "severe" levels from Monday.
According to data of the CPCB, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi was recorded at 336, which falls in the "very poor" category.
Penalties to the tune of Rs 15.50 lakh were slapped by the East Delhi Municipal Corporation on Thursday and Friday, for violations of pollution control norms, EDMC data showed on Saturday.
