New Delhi: In an incident that punches a hole in the popular perception as Delhi Metro being the safest mode of transportaion in the national capital, a Metro staffer was stabbed and Rs 12 lakh was looted from Delhi’s Rajendra Place Metro Station early Monday morning.
The incident happened at the ticketing counter inside the station control room.
It is probably for the first time that criminals have targeted the control room situated at a metro station.
According to reports, Mandatory frisking of the two attackers were done at the metro station. It may be possible that they used the knife kept inside station officer office to attack the staffer.
The incident took place at around 5.30 am, and police are examining CCTV footage available for further details. The control room, where the ticket counter is located, was reportedly targeted.
The metro stations across the city are guarded by CISF personnel.
