In a horrific incident, a 38-year-old woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband in the presence of their three children in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Monday.
The victim, Savita, was married to Vinod (42) and their children are 15, 14 and 13 years of age, they said.
The couple had frequent fights and this morning during one such fight Vinod picked up a hammer and hit her on the head multiple times, the police said.
He fled from the spot as the children raised an alarm and informed their neighbours.
The woman was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused, they added.
According to the police, the accused – an e-rickshaw driver – was addicted to liquor and the couple had frequent fights over it.
On Monday morning, the couple again indulged in a heated argument over Vinod’s addiction while their children were sleeping in the other room.
Vinod lost his temper and attacked his wife with a hammer. On hearing Savita crying, her children woke up and their son tried to stop his father but failed to do so.
He fled from the spot as the children raised an alarm and informed their neighbours.
