Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari’s North Avenue residence in New Delhi was allegedly ransacked by unidentified men late Sunday night.

Manoj Tiwari, a Lok Sabha member from North-East Delhi, was now present at his house when the incident took place.

The police has arrested two persons in connection with the incident. The arrested include Jay Kumar, 38, and his brother Jaswant Singh, 33.

Manoj Tiwari tweeted saying that about 10 people had barged into the premises of his residence in Delhi's North Avenue.

“Around eight to 10 people attacked my residence at 159, North Avenue,” the actor-turned-politician tweeted around 3 am today. He further alleged a conspiracy behind the incident.

According to Tiwari, this was an attack aimed at him. He said that the accused even called out his name and hurled abuses.

"The way a policeman escorted them to the house after they created a ruckus, shows that there is definitely a conspiracy behind this," he said.

Looks like a big conspiracy, that too with police involvement. No one should be spared, Tiwari added.

"They are abusing people and looking for Manoj Tiwari... What is happening in Delhi? Just 100 steps away from a police station, a parliamentarian's house is attacked and staff members are beaten," Mr Tiwari was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.

On the other hand, the police said that the incident, which occurred around 1.15 a.m., was following a car accident in which one of Tiwari's staff-member was involved.

After a heated exchange, occupants of the other vehicle forcibly entered Tiwari's North Avenue residence and thrashed his cook and personal staff.

The police officials said that the attackers were also from the same neighbourhood and they had called in some of their friends to aid in their attack.

"We have arrested two persons and a case has been lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)," Delhi Police spokesperson Madhur Verma told IANS.

“There was a minor accident in the wee hours outside Tiwari’s residence in North Avenue. His driver with a Scorpio car, in which Tiwari was not travelling, allegedly hit a wagon R car. The driver of the wagon car alleged that Tiwari’s driver beat him up, and went inside the residence. Wagon R driver’s associates come up after sometime and went inside Tiwari’s office and allegedly beat the Tiwari’s driver and his associates,” said DCP New Delhi BK Singh.

Addressing the reporters today morning, Manoj Tiwari said that he would contact the Home Ministry over the incident.

Tiwari's personal staff, who was injured in the incident, Abhinav Mishra told IANS: "I came out after hearing the cook's cry. He was being beaten up by four to five men. And when I intervened they also thrashed me."

Last week, the BJP - under the leadership of Manoj Tiwari - swept the civic polls in Delhi, retaining control over the municipal bodies.
