Gurgaon: A 30-year-old Delhi-based software engineer allegedly tried to commit suicide on Tuesday and posted notes on his suicidal bid on Facebook before being rescued by police from his flat.
The victim, identified as Varun Malik, has been admitted to a hospital and his condition is said to be out of danger, police said.
Malik is unmarried and lives with his father. He has been employed with private firm since 2012 and is apparently suffering from depression. For last couple of days he was feeling mentally disturbed, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon Police, Hawa Singh said.
"Malik had almost cut veins on his hand at his flat around 9:30 am while he was chatting with his friend on Facebook. He even pointed the camera of the laptop toward it and wrote a note on the social media site, saying no one is responsible for my suicide" the police official said.
His friend with whom he (Varun Malik) was chatting today on Facebook informed the Police Control Room after Malik told him during the chat that he was going to commit suicide, Mr Singh said.
The police then swung into action swiftly, and reached his flat where Malik was found lying in an unconscious state, and rescued him.
“Malik is still unconscious. We are waiting to record his statement," Singh said. The police is also inquirying with his colleagues to ascertain the motive behind his sucide bid, he said.
