A team of Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) today raided Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) office on a complaint related to corruption in recruitment process filed by Congress leader Barkha Singh.

The former chief of the DCW in the complaint against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Commission’s chief Swati Maliwal alleged nepotism in recruitment in the high profile commission.

Singh had claimed that the city government had hired around 83 of its party workers in the commission, and thus violated the rules by taking in more staff than sanctioned number of posts.

Maliwal, however, denied any wrongdoing in the recruitment saying ‘additional hands were hired to clear pending cases’.

Singh, in her complaint to the ACB, had highlighted the case of AAP leader HS Phoolka’s daughter, Prabhsahay Kaur, one of the new recruit at DCW who was drawing a monthly salary of Rs 35,000.

She had also pointed out that former president of AAP women wing, Promila Gupta, was working in the Commission on a salary of Rs 25,000.

All the names have been obtained through an RTI inquiry, Singh has claimed.

“The benefits are being provided in form of service on contract basis. While giving the said service, no by-laws as well as the establishment of the particular organisation have been followed,” said the complaint.

“The service on contract basis was provided to the associates and aides of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) without inviting any applications by way of publications,” it added.

“The said activity is deliberate and attracts penal provisions thereof a detailed inquiry on such illegal activities should be conducted and immediate action should be taken against Kejriwal and Maliwal, including other persons who are involved,” it further said.
