In total, 10 persons have been arrested for allegedly vandalising a car last week in west Delhi's Moti Nagar after the vehicle brushed past one of the kanwariyas, police said on Tuesday.

All these arrests have been made in the last 24 hours.

On Monday, police had arrested Yogesh (22) for allegedly being part of the kanwariya group that vandalised the car. He was identified after police scrutinised CCTV footages.

On the basis of information provided by Yogesh, nine more people, including main accused Aman who got hit by the car, were arrested, cops said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar said they have arrested 11 men so far. Another accused, Rahul Billa, was arrested on August 9 in connection with the attack. Most of the accused are residents of Najafgarh, Bindapur and Dwarka, he said, reported news agency PTI.

The incident took place last Tuesday. Kanwariyas were vexed after the driver allegedly hit one of them.

As per reports, the car was being driven by a woman. She was with a male friend when it allegedly hit a Kanwariya.

A heated argument took place. Reportedly, one of Kanwariyas was slapped by the male occupant of the car. Following this, Kanwariyas damaged the vehicle with sticks.

On getting the information, cops rushed to the spot. However, the occupants of the car were not present at the scene. The couple fled the place fearing for their lives.

A CCTV camera installed at a nearby shop captured the entire incident.

Based on enquiries conducted by the police and available footage, a case was registered. Video also went viral on WhatsApp and Facebook.
