Jammu: One terrorist was today killed in an encounter after a CRPF camp came under attack on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Kud area of Udhampur district, police said.
Meanwhile, the police has stopped the traffic at the Jammu and Kashmir National Highway to ensure safety of locals and tourists.
The camp, located about 170 kms from Jammu, came under attack from two militants, who were travelling in a State Road Transport Corporation bus which was stopped for checking by a joint party of CRPF and J&K police.
During the checking, one of the militants came out of the bus and opened fire on the police and then ran away. The other one, who was sitting in the bus, was immediately shot dead by the security personnel.
One woman has died and another is badly injured, said the police. Two CRPF personnel were also injured during the incidence.
"One militant has been eliminated even though the search operation is on," Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Danish Rana told PTI.
