Four naxals, including a commander who was active in neighbouring Odisha and carrying a Rs 13-lakh reward on his head, Wednesday surrendered before police in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, an officer said.

Among them, Guddu alias Suresh, who was active as the commander of platoon no.3 of the Central Security Committee of Maoists in Odisha, was the most dreaded one, said Dantewada superintendent of police Abhishek Pallava.

Guddu, a native of Bijapur district had joined Maoist ranks in 2007 and worked in the state for three years before being elevated and shifted to Odisha in 2010, he said.

In Odisha, he was involved in carrying out several deadly attacks on security forces, including killing of nine police personnel in Sonabeda in 2011, the SP said.

He was also involved in launching attacks on police teams and torching vehicles in Bijapur, the SP added.

"While Chhattisgarh police had announced a reward of Rs 8 lakh for his arrest, Odisha police had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on Guddu," Pallava said.

Another surrendered cadre, Dilip Punem (26), who is a janmilitia commander, was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, he said.

Two janmilitia members, identified as Laxman Atami (33) and Munna Ram (24), also surrendered with two muzzle-loading guns, he added.

In their statements, they all said that they wanted to delink from Maoists after getting disappointed with the "hollow" ideology and harsh forest life, said Pallava.
