A group of miscreants in West Bengal’s Jadhavpur manhandled the caretaker of cricketer Mohammed Shami’s apartment earlier this week. According to reports, the goons had an altercation with the caretaker after Shami’s car was blocked by a motorcyclist.
The cricketer, however, tried to make peace and left for his home. He later lodged a police complaint following which three persons were arrested.
According to reports, after the scuffle, the gang reached Shami's house again and had another round of heated argument with the guard. It was only then that Shami filed the police complaint on Sunday night. All the arrested accused were presented before the Alipore Court on Monday.
Police said that the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. All three have been identified as Jayanta Sarkar, Swarup Sarkar and Shiva Pramanik. They have been booked under IPC Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 341 (wrongful restraint).
Shami is part of India’s 16-member squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka, starting July 26.
