Three persons were killed and 12 others injured in an explosion in a car close to a rally of a Congress candidate near Punjab's Bathinda city this evening, police said.
The incident came days before polling in the assembly elections, slated for February 4.
At least 12 persons were reported to be injured in the blast at Maur Mandi, about 200 km from here, close to where Congress candidate Harminder Jassi was addressing a gathering at that time. They were rushed to hospitals in Maur Mandi and Bathinda.
"Three persons were killed in a blast in a Maruti car," Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said.
Those killed include two adults and a boy. Their identity has not been ascertained yet. It is not known what led to the incident, he said.
