A Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader has been booked for allegedly molesting women at a Muharram Majlis in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The accused Abhishek Yadav allegedly came in wearing a burqa (veil) and tried to molest the women present there.
A case has been registered by the police against the VHP district secretary, who happens to be the husband of BJP zila panchayat member Shipra Yadav.
He was caught attempting the shameful act and was thrashed by the locals before being handed over to the police, reports said.
Yadav is believed to have been accompanied by another burqa-clad youth accompanied at the Majlis at Mani Umarpur village on Saturday night. However, he managed to flee from the scene.
It was after a few women became suspicious of two ‘burqa-clad women’ that Abhishek and his partner were caught.
They were forced to lift up their veils after which the picture became clearer.
Soon, the residents of the village rushed to the scene and started thrashing both the accused.
However, Abhishek’s family had a different story to tell. Denying the allegations, they claimed that the VHP leader was looted by some people of the Mani Umarpur village on his way home.
